The Nat Moore Foundation
In 1998, the Nat Moore Foundation was founded to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged Miami Dade County youth and their communities by focusing on education, sports development and youth health needs. The foundation has granted funds to area non-profit organizations that offered programs and services to enrich the lives of disadvantaged youth.
Since its inception, the foundation’s focus was and still is, to create a better community for the children of South Florida by providing them a safe, wholesome and positive learning atmosphere where they can arm themselves with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in their present environment. With increasing amounts of peer pressure, gang violence, teenage pregnancy and drug usage, it is critical that we focus on educational and recreational programs that enhance the growth and development of our youth. Our goal is for the youth of South Florida to prepare both physically and mentally to become future community leaders.
Since 1998, The Nat Moore Foundation has dispersed over $1,800,000 into South Florida through the following programs and initiatives:
Sports and Life Skills Camps – Unique day camp experience for inner city youth aimed at replacing gang activity, drugs and other detrimental actions with sports, nutritional guidance, literary arts and field trips.
Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test (FCAT) Tutoring Program – After school tutoring program focusing on reading and math comprehension.
Transportation Program – Allows inner city youth groups that qualified to participate in National Athletic Championships to solicit funds on a matching basis for their trip.
Speakers Bureau – Mr. Moore speaks at local schools and agencies regarding peer pressure, setting goals and making the right choices.
Scholarships & Grants – The Foundations is proud to have awarded over $1 million to 24 disadvantaged students and twenty-four (24) agencies and/or foundations in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
Technical Assistance – Training on creating effective youth programs is provided to local non-for-profit organizations and churches.
