Nat Moore Foundation

The Nat Moore Foundation was formally launched in March 1998, although Nat Moore’s South Florida charitable roots can be traced to the early 1980s.  Click here to learn more.

"There are excellent organizations doing great work throughout the community, but many of them just don’t have the resources to raise all the funding they need,” Nat recalls. “I have good friends in sports and business who can help and I was in the position to use that platform to coordinate meaningful fund raising efforts."

Nat called upon several of those longtime friends, and established the Nat Moore Foundation. Drawing inspiration from  a community organization with which he was involved, Nat brought to his organization the principles of respect for the dignity, values and self-worth of each individual, as well as a commitment to promote harmony within the community while opening avenues of opportunity to all.

The Nat Moore Foundation’s mission is “Helping Kids Help Themselves.”  The Foundation supports South Florida’s children and youth by providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors and grants to nonprofit organizations that offer programs and services to enrich the lives of disadvantaged children and youth.

The Foundation accomplishes its mission by providing:

  • Annual grants to community-based organizations,
  • Scholarships to graduating high school seniors who demonstrate need and community service,
  • Matching grants to assist with transportation costs for youth sports teams competing in regional or national championship games
  • Direct service programs, in collaboration with community partners, supporting the academic and physical success of children and youth.

Today, the Nat Moore Foundation has distributed more than $2 million to various youth and social service organizations. The Foundation has helped 60 students attain their higher education, as well as provided support services to hundreds of children and youth through academic, recreational, fitness and life-skills programs.

Proceeds from the Foundation’s annual Canon Florida Golf Classic serves as its primary source of funding. The Canon Florida Golf Classic is a three-day golf and party extravaganza, historically held at Doral Golf Resort and Spa. The fun-filled event is attended by prominent corporate executives, community leaders and celebrities, including current and legendary NFL players, actors, and other sports personalities.
