ABOUT NAT MOORE

During his 13 years as a standout member of the Miami Dolphins, Nat Moore broke almost every career receiving record for the team and remained the all-time leading Dolphins receiver until the 1991 season. After playing college ball for University of Florida, he was a third round draft pick for the Dolphins in 1974. Nat played in Super Bowls XVII and XIX, started in the 1977 Pro Bowl, and still stands second on the Dolphins all-time career receiving touchdowns list with 74.

He carried his success in football over into his personal life by giving unselfishly of his time to many charitable causes in South Florida, where he grew up and went to Miami Edison High School. Nat developed a relationship with the Family Christian Association of America (FCAA), hosting fashion shows and golf tournaments that involved football players to raise funds for the organization. He also volunteered with the Larry Little Summer Gold Coast Camp for Kids and learned principles that he would later apply to his own foundation.

Establishing a reputation on and off the field led Nat to be named the 1984 NFL “Man of the Year,” an honor bestowed on the player who gives outstanding service to his community. He also earned the 1986 Byron White Humanitarian Award for his service to his team, community and country.

Since retiring from professional football in 1987, Nat has dedicated himself to giving back to the community where he grew up and found tremendous support throughout his career. With a strong history of charity work behind him, he launched a sports promotion and event management firm, running fund raisers and celebrity golf tournaments for a dozen meaningful organizations, such as the Ronald McDonald House Charities and Florida Memorial College.

Nat soon realized that by staging one big event each year, rather than organizing several smaller affairs for each association, he could raise a more substantial amount of money that could benefit many worthwhile charitable causes throughout the community. In 1998, he founded the Nat Moore Foundation as a means to support children-oriented non-profits that did not have the capacity to raise adequate funding for their missions.

Pro-football retirement has not taken Nat away from football. As the Executive Director of the Pro Bowl Football Clinic, he brings NFL stars and children together for fun, football, and education. He continues his work with the Miami Dolphins as the Vice President of Alumni Relations & Special Projects and Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, as well as the pre-season broadcast analyst on WFOR, Miami’s local CBS affiliate. Nat also supports his alma mater, the University of Florida, as a color analyst on Sun Sports during the Gator’s football season.

Nat serves on a number of committees, boards and advisory boards across South Florida, including SunTrust Bank NA, Orange Bowl Committee, FCAA, SMF Energy Corp. and AvMed Health Plans. In spite of his busy schedule, Nat still finds time to enjoy a good golf game and spend time with his wife, Pat, his five children, and four grandchildren.
